What does 1 ton of fill dirt look like?
One ton of fill dirt is two-thirds to nine-tenths of a cubic yard, roughly 18 to 25 cubic feet, since dry fill weighs about 1.1 to 1.5 tons per cubic yard. That fills a 3 by 3 foot box 2 to 3 feet deep. Wet or clay-heavy dirt packs a ton into less space.
